Microsoft Support is Ending for Dynamics GP2016

At Mekorma, we tend to be sticklers about keeping software current – it’s a value we adhere to internally, and we recommend the same to our customers. The benefits of running the latest code far outweigh any temporary inconveniences or extra time commitments required to upgrade.

There are some very good reasons to start planning your Microsoft Dynamics GP upgrade to the latest release, in addition to being on the latest release of Mekorma Payment Hub.

Microsoft will be ending mainstream support for Dynamics GP 2016 and 2016 R2 as of July 13, 2021. New product enhancements, including tax and year-end updates, will no longer be released. If you haven’t already, we recommend you plan to upgrade to the latest version, Microsoft Dynamics GP October 2020 (18.3)

This most recent version of Dynamics GP adheres to Microsoft's Modern Lifecycle policy, which aligns product support with all other Microsoft products like Windows, Office 365, etc., and works differently from the Fixed Lifecycle policy of previous GP versions. Upgrading to the latest version of Dynamics GP will enable you to receive continuous product updates and support, as long as you keep current within a defined time frame.

 

For Mekorma partners and customers

This impacts our customers in the following ways: 

  • Mekorma Build x84 (released June 30th, 2021), will be the final build supported with GP 2016.

  • Future builds will be compatible with Dynamics GP 2018 R2, GP 18.2 and GP 18.3.

  • We have updated our Premium Support policy to reflect the Microsoft Dynamics GP lifecycle for GP2016. All clients with a renewal expiration of October 31st, 2021 or later who are running GP2016 or 2016R2 will be required to pay the additional premium support fee at the time of their renewal.
