GPUG Summit 2018 Recap

We told you we couldn’t wait for GPUG Summit 2018 in Phoenix and we knew there was a reason why.

It was an incredible show. Lots of folks said it was the best they’ve attended. Thanks to all the folks at Dynamic Communities who worked so hard to enhance the customer’s experience in Microsoft Dynamics… especially GP.

Mekorma is chomping at the bit to tell you some exciting news. Our very own Mariano Gomez was one of the winners of the GPUG All*Star Award. You may remember our blog post highlighting his professional accomplishments, along with his MVP designation again this year. We are very proud to have him on our team leading our product development efforts.

Recognition wouldn’t be complete without a shout-out to two of our customers: Jen Kuntz of Energy+, Inc. and Bryan Robertson of SBA Communications Corp., who were winners of the GPUG All*Star award as well. Both are highly esteemed members of the GPUG community and make generous contributions with their expertise for the betterment of all. Mekorma is honored to be associated with them both.

Booth visits were at an all-time high and we were thrilled because despite the rumors about its demise, GP is going strong. In fact, we were floored with the enthusiasm and we underestimated how many people would pay us a visit. End-users and partners read about our sponsorship in our newsletter, attended one of our sessions or heard about us through the grapevine or their partners. They were excited to hear about Mekorma’s solution offerings which have evolved to include Multi-Batch Management and Enhanced Electronic Payments. We had the distinct pleasure of working the booth with Sam Mikhail, David Adams and Jim Scott of ACOM Solutions. Here’s the blog post in which we discussed our joint venture to offer full electronic payment services to Mekorma customers.

Electronic payment methods are not only the rage now, but they will be the future for the AP department that wants to be productive in a modern age. Are you familiar with Mekorma’s Enhanced Electronic Payments service?

We spoke about it in our sessions. The rooms were packed. There were even people sitting on the floor! Here are some top highlights we spoke about:

1)  Mekorma’s Enhanced Electronic Payments service comes at no cost to qualified customers who own Mekorma Payment Hub. We’ll do all the heavy-lifting convert to your vendors to electronic payments. You can still print the remaining checks in-house or ask us to handle the printing and mailing as well. If you qualify for this program, your yearly enhancement is waived, and Multi-Batch Management is included at no charge. Contact us today to schedule a meeting.

2)  Now you don’t need to worry about payment types. Instead of separating payment types by EFTs and checks for your vendors, you can now pull all vendors into one payment batch with electronic payments and it’s set up to know which method to use. Batches will be easier to create.

3)  Security has been significantly improved when you use electronic payments. In addition to the ease of processing payments with this method, Mekorma emphasized how end-users can enjoy piece of mind and mitigate the risk of fraud. Contact us for more details!

On the social side, we met some old friends and made some more. Some of the ISV partners did a fantastic job of arranging some after-hours parties to kick back, relax and have some fun with our fellow attendees. Some of us had the opportunity to meet Taylor Dorward, the son of Shawn Dorward of InterDyn Artis, who went through a life-altering experience that you can read about here. Shawn said at one of the parties that GP stands for “Great People” and we can’t agree with him more.

Now… we can’t wait for GPUG Summit 2019 in Orlando, FL at the Gaylord Palms Resort. Wonder what Mickey and Minnie use for electronic payment processing.
